How to make your own foaming soap

Quality Pumps, Elegant Finishes, Sustainable
Select your soap

You can’t just add normal soap into a foaming dispenser as it is generally too thick. So you will have to water it down a little.

Measure out the soap & water in equal parts.

Typically you will need to add 1 part soap to 4 parts water to get a good mix suitable for a foaming dispenser. Depending on the soap, you may be ok with 1 part soap to 3 parts water, but it’s best to experiment.

Do not fill to the very top

Try not to fill the foaming dispenser to the top. Its helps when mixing.

Put the lid on, and mix

Give the soap and water a little shake and mix it up

tip: Because every soap is slightly different, you may need to experiment with the soap-to-water ratio. If your soap isn't foaming, try diluting it slightly.

Foaming Soap Dispensers Frequently Asked Questions

One variety of liquid soap is called foaming hand soap. It is produced by a liquid soap that has been diluted and then combined with air to create a foamy lather as it is pumped from the dispenser.

The pump consists of two separate chambers. When the pump is depressed, one chamber contains soap while the other chamber pushes air into the dispensing device.

To refill our dispensers, you only need foaming soap that has been pre-mixed, or you may follow our instructions to make your own. Adding standard soap with diluting will not work.

  1. Select your soap. You can’t just add normal soap to a foaming dispenser, as it is generally too thick. So you will have to water it down a little.
  2. Measure out the soap and water in equal parts. Typically, you will need to add 1 part soap to 4 parts water to get a good mix suitable for a foaming dispenser. Depending on the soap, you may be okay with 1 part soap to 3 parts water, but it’s best to experiment.
  3. Do not fill to the very top of the container. Try not to fill the foaming dispenser to the top.
  4. Put the lid on and mix. Give the soap and water a little shake to mix them up.

The short answer is yes, as technically, if you water down your soap, it lasts a lot longer than if you don't.

For example, typical soaps can be watered down to 4 parts water to 1 part soap, which means your soap should last four times as long.

It won't be more sustainable if you buy a ready-made foaming solution as its already been watered down.

When trying to find out the best foaming soap dispenser, you should consider the following

  1. Look for a quality pump. Look for a foaming dispenser made with a stainless steel pump. These pumps are of higher quality and will last longer.
  2. Choose the right size. A 250ml bottle is smaller and perfect for a smaller sink. A larger 500ml is better for commercial environments or if you do not want to refill as often.
  3. Container Material. Look for a hard-wearing material like glass that will stand the test of time. Plastic is okay, but it can wear over time and will need to be replaced sooner.
  4. Look for a manufacturer's warranty. A better quality dispenser will come with a warranty. All kuishi foaming bottles come with 12 months as standard.
